DR. SUSIE ZHANG

BHSc/BAppSc (Chinese Medicine)

I’m Dr. Susie – a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner.

I was born and raised in Australia, although my background is Chinese and my parents are from the Yunnan Province in China. Growing up, I struggled to lean into my cultural background, not quite knowing how I fit in with those around me. I now see my place in this world as having the power to broach the gap between Western and Eastern culture, health and wellness.

I have always had an interest in health and wellness, but it wasn’t until I started studying TCM that I really felt true passion. I had spent time in the past studying Western Medicine, but I never felt that I could find the wholeness and satisfaction I so deeply yearned. Every class, every book, every experience around Chinese Medicine was like a lightbulb moment of understanding health and wellness from a philosophical and holistic space – a feeling I had never experienced before.

Chinese Medicine allowed me to meet myself at a deeper level. It has guided me in more ways than words can describe and I would love to guide you towards such an experience.

I am a registered practitioner with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency) and AACMA (Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association). I have completed a double degree of Health Science and Applied Science with Distinction through RMIT, including a 4 month internship in Nanjing, China.

Through my consultation, I will build a holistic portrait of you as an individual. This portrait allows me to assess your health and wellbeing as a whole, taking different factors into consideration. This understanding will be used to guide your individually tailored treatment.

While I recognise the importance of western medical terms, I treat more than a condition or a diagnosis. I treat a person as a whole - encompassing mind, body and spirit.

I work with a wide range of health concerns, although I have found a deeper interest in women’s health and fertility, digestive health, mental health issues and stress management. A lot of my deeper interests come from my own personal experiences and challenges, of which Chinese Medicine (along with other modalities) has helped me in my healing and self development journey.

I am very passionate about patient education. The philosophy and concepts behind Traditional Chinese Medicine can be new and different to how we understand western medicine. I believe in sharing this knowledge with my patients so that they be empowered to understand health and wellness from a holistic perspective, and carry this guidance with them into the future.
